Matt Farley has released more than 25,000 songs on Spotify (here's a recent banger), and he's starred in 17+ movies directed by Charles Roxburgh. Together, along with an expanding crew of friends, family, and fans, they've been making microbudget movies in small-town New England for more than 20 years - and they're showing no sign of stopping! As scholars of the hang-out scenes in cheap horror movies, Farley/Roxburgh pack their films with bizarre bits, outre characters, original songs, and an infectious genial derangement. They are masters of the funny reaction shot, and their cult following is slowly but surely building. BUFF is proud to present a double feature of two of their most delirious comedies.
In Monsters, Marriage and Murder in Manchvegas (2009), Farley & Roxburgh sing an ode to summer fun in 16mm with a big cast of childlike adults, psychopathic patriarchs, and genial gospercap creatures, most looking for love and all in danger. When a homicidal madman begins slaying young women in the idyllic New England town of Manchvegas, it’s up to a trio of cunning local freelance businesspeople known as M.O.S. – the Manchvegas Outlaw Society – to get to the bottom of the crime spree. Meanwhile, a band of hairy forest monsters also menaces the village.
