PARENTS BEWARE! LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS!
Professor/writer/director Kansas Bowling presents a shocking exposé about the lives of teenage girls, presented as a series of fictional vignettes and real documentary interviews on 16mm. A film heavy with empathy for the low lows and tempered highs of teenagedom, steady with deadpan jokes but ultimately devastating.
Cuddly Toys is not a feminist piece, but rather a think piece — a new mondo film to inform, invite debate, and to appropriately represent the flies that continuously buzz around the female gender. And after 102 minutes of rape, gore, and extreme stories of teenage girl woes, the most shocking statement you'll hear is... well, you'll have to watch the film to find that out.
CW: This film contains graphic depictions of sexual violence.

"A sort-of Russ Meyer-paced anachronistic mondo-meets-white-coater-meets-roughie for the younger-Millenial/elder-Gen-Z outsider crew—naturally adjacent to some of Anna Biller's work but only because it shares some influence DNA." - Felix Hubble, Static Vision
"This is one of the only movies that I’ve seen recently that has affected me so deeply, and by that I mean has instilled such a sense of dread in me that I’m feeling nauseous an hour later" - Emma, Letterboxd
