A Chinese American cam girl struggles to navigate the pressures of NYC, a toxic client, and her relationship with her dying, estranged father. Katarina Zhu, Rachel Sennott, Sundance 2025.
Co-Presented by HitList
Drifting Chinese American cam girl Rebecca struggles to navigate an increasingly toxic relationship with one of her clients while rekindling her relationship with her dying estranged father in Katarina Zhu's insightful, slippery debut feature that grapples with identities, desires and transgressions trying to bridge interpersonal distances and fix alienation in the online world. Cold blue laptop and sheets for the bedrooms, far-away lights and too-close closeups for the busy city streets; through it all, writer/director/star Zhu's aching eyes. Co-starring Rachel Sennott (who also managed to get Charli XCX on the soundtrack) as Rebecca's shittalking painter friend and Austin Amelio (Everybody Wants Some!) as a client turned potential paramour, Bunnylovr stares into the screen's abyss and finds the will to keep on.

"A tantalizing mix of sexy, disturbing, and moving" - Juliette Jeffers, Interview magazine
"So many films about sex work just use the set up as a narrative device. An avenue for hijinks and lingering shots of supple bodies instead of a truthful attempt at something real. This film isn’t trying to entertain you. It’s not a fairytale or a cautionary tale. It’s not presenting its subject as a victim of circumstance or an unlikely hero. It’s just honest." - Megan (stoobs) Cruz, Letterboxd
